Brand Protocol: your brand, written as files

Your voice, your design and your rules in one place, readable by a person and by a machine. The work comes from it, and gets checked against it.

What do you get, and in what form?

A folder of text files, in an open format, in an account of yours. Inside: the voice, meaning how the business speaks. The design. The rules and the refusals, and examples of work already done your way.

A brand manual as a PDF gets read once and filed. This one gets read on every job, by whoever writes and by the AI helping to write. And it has checking built in. I score every result against the source, and put what I learn back into it.

What happens first?

The diagnostic, then a conversation about how the brand sounds: how you speak, what you refuse, and what nobody ever wrote down but everyone around you knows.

The brand almost always exists already. It lives in people's heads and in the work they have done, and nobody wrote it down. The first job is getting it out of there.

How I work

  1. Listen to the brand

I work out what already exists: how you speak, what you turn down, and what nobody ever wrote down but everyone on the team knows.

  2. Write it down

Voice, design and rules become your files. In plain language.

  3. Connect it to the work

The Protocol starts feeding what gets written and designed day to day. Repetition worth removing comes from it. Small automations, on a process you already understand.

  4. Check

I score every output against the source. What I learn goes back in, and the source gets sharper.

Frequently asked

How is this different from a brand manual?

A manual describes the brand for a person to read once. The Protocol writes it in a format that also gets read on every job, by people and by models. And I check it. I score what comes out against what is in there.

Do I need a defined brand already?

No. It almost always exists and nobody wrote it down, and the first step is getting it out. If the brand does not exist yet, I say so.

Does the Protocol lock me into one AI?

No. It sits between the model and your tools. I swap the model without the brand moving. It is your file, in an open format.

What if my team doesn't use AI?

It still holds. It becomes the single source for the brand, which is useful with or without models. The AI part gets added when the team wants it.

Your brand should be written down.

The diagnostic maps what exists and what is missing. Whatever you decide to build next stays yours.
